The “Haa Dhaalu Judicial District Statistics – 2025” reveals that a total of 393 marriage and divorce cases were processed in Haa Dhaalu Atoll during the year 2025.
According to these statistics, across the 12 islands of Haa Dhaalu Atoll, including Kulhudhuffushi City, a total of 225 marriages were performed and 168 divorces were finalized last year.
The data shows that in four islands, the number of divorces exceeded the number of marriages. These islands are Neykurendhoo, Hirimaradhoo, Makunudhoo, and Kurinbee.
In Neykurendhoo, 7 marriages were registered while 8 divorces were finalized. In Hirimaradhoo, there were 3 marriages and 4 divorces. Makunudhoo saw 11 marriages and 16 divorces, while Kurinbee recorded 3 marriages and 5 divorces.
In Finey, 3 marriages were performed last year with zero divorces recorded. Meanwhile, in Naivaadhoo, no marriages took place, but 2 divorces were finalized.
Statistics for other islands are as follows:
Kulhudhuffushi City:** 119 marriages, 84 divorces
Kumundhoo: 8 marriages, 4 divorces
Vaikaradhoo:  15 marriages, 11 divorces
Nolhivaram: 16 marriages, 15 divorces
Nolhivaranfaru: 11 marriages, 3 divorces
Nellaidhoo:  8 marriages, 5 divorces
Hanimaadhoo:  21 marriages, 11 divorces
Last year, courts in the Haa Dhaalu Judicial District handled a total of 92 criminal cases, 411 civil cases, and 404 family cases. The breakdown by island is: Kulhudhuffushi City (503 cases), Hanimaadhoo (77 cases), Vaikaradhoo (66 cases), Makunudhoo (61 cases), Nolhivaram (57 cases), Neykurendhoo (27 cases), Nellaidhoo (27 cases), Nolhivaranfaru (25 cases), Naivaadhoo (21 cases), Kumundhoo (15 cases), Kurinbee (11 cases), Finey (10 cases), and Hirimaradhoo (7 cases).
