Marandhoo has secured the HA. Atoll championship in the Hyundai Golden Futsal Challenge 2024.
In an intense final match played yesterday evening, Marandhoo defeated Kelaa via a penalty shootout.
This marked the first time both islands competed in an atoll final of the Golden Futsal Challenge.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw at the end of regulation time. Luth Hussain scored for Marandhoo, while Ibrahim Rishal netted the goal for Kelaa.
Marandhoo triumphed in the penalty shootout with a 4-1 scoreline. During the shootout, Marandhoo’s goalkeeper, Naufal Moosa, skillfully blocked Kelaa’s attempts. The successful penalties for Marandhoo were converted by Mohamed Hamdan Ahmed, Hassan Aslam, and Ahmed Mohamed.
Regarding the individual awards for the HA. Atoll category, Ibrahim Rishal of Team Kelaa took home the Top Scorer award. Hamdoon Ahmed Latheef of Team Marandhoo was named the Atoll’s Best Player, while Naufal Moosa of Team Marandhoo was recognized as the Player of the Match in the final.
In the same tournament, Naivaadhoo defended their title to remain the HDh. Atoll champions this year.
