Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital (KRH) will begin providing the services of a Nephrologist (kidney specialist) and a Pulmonologist (lung specialist) within this month, according to the hospital’s Chief Executive Officer, Nazima Ali.
CEO Nazima disclosed this information in a summary message regarding the services currently provided by KRH and the progress made over the past two years.
In her message, Nazima stated that the focus over the last two years has been to ensure that existing services at KRH continue without any interruptions. Furthermore, she noted that telemedicine services have been launched and are being provided to patients, and that endometriosis services have been restarted and are currently available.
“We are currently working to expand the ER and broaden its services. At the same time, practical work to expand dialysis services is also underway in both areas,” Nazima said.
She further mentioned that the services of a Cardiologist and a Neurologist are already available at KRH.
“God willing, within this month, KRH will also provide the services of a Nephrologist and a Pulmonologist,” Nazima added.
Nazima explained that work is ongoing to upgrade KRH to a tertiary-level hospital, divided into two phases. Most of the components included in Phase One have been nearly completed. She also stated that the design work for the buildings in Phase Two is currently in progress, and physical construction is expected to begin by the end of February.
Nazima noted that once the construction of the new building is complete, the current space constraints at KRH will be fully resolved, and she provided further details on the matter.
KRH is the most high-demand hospital in the region, serving residents of the three northernmost atolls as well as nearby atolls. The hospital continues to provide a wide range of medical services to the public.
