The Maldives has secured its first-ever medal at a Para Games.
This medal was won by Mohamed Rizuhan, the captain of Hdh. Atoll Education Centre, who hails from Kulhudhuffushi City.
According to the Maldives Olympic Committee, the Maldives won its first medal at a Para Games last Saturday. The Olympic Committee noted that this is a significant achievement that future generations will remember.
The Olympic Committee stated that in the Dubai 2025 Asian Youth Para Games, the young Maldivian Para Swimming athlete, Mohamed Rizuhan, proudly won a bronze medal (Nilanka Medal) in the Boys’ 12–16 age group, 50-meter Freestyle S10 category.
“This achievement is more than just a result; it is a major step forward for the Paralympic movement in the Maldives, and a testament to what our youth can achieve when given the opportunity,” the Olympic Committee said.
The Olympic Committee considers this achievement to be just the beginning.
In a post regarding Rizuhan’s achievement, the Hdh. Atoll Education Centre noted that their school captain, Rizuhan, competed against many international athletes, showcasing his skill and determination while representing the Maldives.
“His achievement is a significant milestone in the history of Para Swimming in the Maldives, and it demonstrates the increasing participation of Maldivian athletes in the international Para-Sports arena,” said Hdh. AEC.
