Sh. Foakaidhoo Council has laid the foundation for a new building that forms part of the Usfasgandu (elevated area/platform) development project currently underway on the island.
According to the Council, the foundation stone was laid by the Foakaidhoo Councilors together with administrative staff, marking a key milestone in the project’s progress.
The construction work has been contracted to Prestige Builders Company at a cost of MVR 2,678,450.13, with a completion period of 130 days.
The Foakaidhoo Usfasgandu project is being carried out as a major island development initiative. Once completed, the upgraded Usfasgandu area will feature a ferry terminal, VIP lounge, prayer room, senior citizens’ center, and a restaurant. The Council also plans to build a nature park adjacent to the Usfasgandu.
Foakaidhoo Council continues to earn praise for its community-focused development efforts. Recently, the Council completed the upgrade of the island’s school multipurpose hall, installing air conditioning and resolving long-standing echo issues.
