The “Thila Uthuru Award 2025” ceremony, organized by the Haa Alifu Atoll Council, took place on Monday night in Dhidhdhoo, the atoll’s capital, honoring outstanding individuals, councils, committees, and organizations that made remarkable contributions to the community.
This year’s awards were presented across six categories. Molhadhoo Island Council claimed first place for the Most Efficiently Managed Island Council, followed by Baarah Council in second place and Ihavandhoo Council in third.
In the Women’s Development Committee (WDC) category, Dhidhdhoo WDC secured first place, while Maaran’dhoo and Utheemu WDCs came in second and third, respectively. The Dhidhdhoo Kurimagu Jam’iyyaa (Society) was recognized as the Most Efficiently Managed Club/Society for 2024.
The Thila Uthuru Special Service Award was presented to Mohamed Ibrahim (Udhu Vilaage), Ihavandhoo, for his dedicated service in the social sector. Meanwhile, Khalid Mohamed (Thiburouzu-ge), Maaran’dhoo, received the Thila Uthuru Encouragement Award for his exceptional work in the field of herbal medicine.

The Thila Uthuru Award is an annual accolade by the Haa Alifu Atoll Council that recognizes individuals and organizations for their valuable service, professional excellence, and contributions to the development of the Atoll, including Island Councils, Women’s Development Committees, Clubs, Societies, resorts, and students who have excelled academically.
