The draw for the Thila Uthuru Futsal Tournament 2025, organized by the Haa Alif Atoll Council and open to all islands in the atoll, was held tonight in a special ceremony in Utheemu, the host island of this year’s tournament.
Speaking at the event, Haa Alif Atoll Council President Moosa Shafeeq said the tournament aims to strengthen unity and friendship among the islands of the atoll, a goal that is already being realized through past editions. He added that such tournaments not only build social connections but also boost the local economy and bring significant benefits to the host community.
Moosa further noted that the atoll’s youth who have participated in competitive futsal tournaments are now gaining recognition at the national level, showcasing the growing sporting talent from the region.
Utheemu Council President Abdulla Rasheed, speaking as host, urged all players and supporters to uphold sportsmanship and discipline throughout the tournament.
“I ask everyone to ensure this is a tournament where the police do not have to chase after us. Let’s cooperate to make it a peaceful and successful event. It’s only through your cooperation that this can be achieved,” Abdulla said.
Following the draw, teams were placed into two groups:

Group A: Utheemu, Ihavandhoo, Washafaru, Filladhoo, Hoarafushi

Group B: Dhidhdhoo, Muridhoo, Kelaa, Baarah
The tournament will kick off soon in Utheemu, bringing together the best futsal talent from across Haa Alif Atoll.
