Mariyam Anaaya Habeeb has won the first place of Ha. Utheemu Aligadha Thari Quran Competition 1445.

Utheemu Aligadha Thari Quran Competition was organized by Utheemu Council in collaboration with Wingers, a Civil Society Organization (CSO) in the island. Closing ceremony of the competition will be held on March 23, 2024 at 21:30hrs at Bodu Thakurufaanu Memorial Center Hall.

Mariyam Anaaya was selected as the Utheemu Aligadha Thari with the highest marks in the final show. Ahmed Shiyaf was runner-up while Aiminath Aishan won the third place. Aishath Shaaya won fourth place, Aishath Nayaal won fifth place, Mohamed Ailam won sixth place, and Ahmed Mazil won seventh place.

A total of 55 students from Utheemu School and PreSchool and five individuals participated in this year’s competition, which was open to all. However, Preschool students were excluded from competing for the ‘Utheemu Aligadha Thari’ title.

The competition was held from March 19-23, 2024. The competition was held in three rounds, including the memorized reading part, non-memorized reading part and the Tajweed.

A cash prize of MVR 8,000 was awarded to the ‘Utheemu Aligadha Thari’ winner and an Umrah trip. The Umrah trip was sponsored by Nawa Hajj Umrah Group.

According to the President of Utheemu Council Abdulla Rasheed, competition was concluded successfully and stated that the competition will be held in next year Ramadan as well. He added that the council’s aim is to bring children of the island to a standard to compete at the atoll and national level in the Quranic Competitions. He thanked all those who helped to successfully conclude the competition, specially thanking the Wingers.

This is the third consecutive year the competition is being held by the council in collaboration with Wingers.
