A new generator has been brought to HDh.Vaikaradhoo and 24-hour power supply has been restored to the island after one of the generators used to supply electricity to the island was damaged.
In a Facebook post, Fenaka stated the 250 kW generators that had been sent to solve the power crisis in Vaikaradhoo had been installed and had started providing electricity.
According to the Fenaka Vaikaradhoo Branch, from one of the two generators used at the power plant, the larger generator was damaged.Therefore, electricity was cut off from the island frequently for more than a week.
According to a resident of the island, during last week due to the damage to one of the generators,, electricity was supplied to the whole island using a small generator, but the generator does not have capacity to provide enough electricity to whole island, island was divided into six parts and electricity was provided to each part for one hour.
Moreover, the lack of electricity also made it difficult for people to meet their essential needs. Therefore, residents of the Island staged a protest.
