‘Haa Alifu Atoll Emme Aligadha Thari 1445 Quran Competition’ organized by Middle Sports Club and Haa Alifu Atoll Council is scheduled to commence tonight.

The first night of the first round of the competition will be held at 21:20hrs at Thila Uthuru Maalam of Haa Atoll Education Center in Dhidhdhoo. And the organizer has open the opportunity for the public to attend and listen to the performances of participants. Also, a draw will be taken among the attendees and will be awarded with a prize. 

According to the organizer, opportunity has been opened to sponsor prizes for the winners of the competition as well. Sponsoring prizes are divided into a total of four categories and separate dates have been set to sponsor prizes for these categories: 

  • 20th to 14th position – before 14:00hrs of March 15, 2024
  • 13th to 10th position – before 14:00hrs of March 21, 2024
  • 10th to 6th position – before 14:00hrs of March 22, 2024
  • 5th to 1st position – before 14:00hrs of March 29, 2024

Those who wish to sponsor prizes are requested to complete the Google form before scheduled dates. If further information is required the organizer requested to contact 7656766.

As part of the opportunity for all the islands of Haa Atoll to participate in the competition, auditions were held among the participants and 20 contestants have now been selected for the competition.

The competition, which is scheduled to be held in the holy month of Ramadan, will be held in three rounds. The first round of the competition is scheduled to be held on March 15 and 16. The second round of the competition is scheduled to be held on March 21 and 22. The final is planned to be held in two days. First night of the final is scheduled to be held on March 28 and the grand finale is scheduled to be held the next night.

Moreover, all arrangements will be made by the organizers of the competition, including travel, accommodation and food for the participants coming to Dhidhdhoo from other islands of the atolls for the upcoming competition during Ramadan. The winner of the competition will be given three Umrah trips as a prize. And several other winners will also be selected and prizes will be given.

In the last two years during the Ramadan competition was held under the title ‘Dhidhdhoo Emme Aligadha Thari’ by Middle Sports Club. In those two years, the competition was held for the residents of Dhidhdhoo only. However, this year the competition is open to the entire atoll. Hence, this year’s competition title is ‘Haa Alifu Atoll Emme Aligadha Thari 1445 Quran Competition’.

According to Middle Sports Club, purposes of the competition are to inculcate love for reciting the Holy Quran in the hearts of the people of the atoll, to revive the art of reciting the Holy Quran in according to Tajweed, encouraging to memorize the Holy Quran, to encourage the developing Qari’s and Hafiz’s. In addition to develop participants who can compete at national and international competitions and to increase awareness about the Holy Quran.
