Haa Dhaalu Atoll Council has decided to develop HDh. Faridhoo for tourism purposes, in a way which will benefit all the islands in the atoll.

At the 127th General Meeting of the Atoll Council, the Council approved the development of Faridhoo for tourism purposes.

The government aims to include uninhabited islands within the jurisdiction of atoll councils and island councils and leave them directly to the council to benefit from them.

Speaking regarding the matter, Vice President of HDh. Atoll Council, Abdul Sattar Hassan stated Faridhoo which is decided to be included under atoll council’s jurisdiction, will be developed in a way it will benefit all the islands of the atoll. In this regard, each island will be able to develop a part of the island. And development, marketing, operation, and revenue generated from there will be available directly to the island council.

In addition, Sattar added that there might be slight changes when the rules are framed and things are finalized. Sattar pointed out that this was a way to improve the revenue of the councils.
