President announced intention of extending the length of runway on currently ongoing Hanimaadhoo Airport Development Project

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated the intention of renegotiating HDh. Hanimaadhoo Airport Development Project to extend the length of runway.

President made the remarks while addressing the residents of HDh. Hanimaadhoo as part of his ongoing trip to several islands of Bodu Thiladhunmathi.

In his remarks he stated that that the airport needs to be developed more comprehensively, therefore, disclosed his intention to renegotiate with the loan provider to accommodate the runway extension by 700 metres.

The Hanimaadhoo International Airport Development Project is one of the most expensive projects carried in the Maldives. Work on the project began on January 18, 2023.
