A new milestone in the realm of typography and linguistic preservation has been achieved with the grand launch of Akuru Type, an online marketplace dedicated to Dhivehi Fonts. With a mission to elevate the aesthetics of the Dhivehi script, Akuru Type invites enthusiasts and connoisseurs alike to explore its exquisite collection of typefaces, now available at www.akurutype.com.

Under the esteemed patronage of the Honourable Minister, Adam Naseer Ibrahim, from the Ministry of Dhivehi Language, Culture, and Heritage, Akuru Type emerges as a beacon of appreciation for the Dhivehi script. Minister Ibrahim highlighted the platform’s significance in nurturing affection for the language and ensuring global recognition of Maldivian language and literature.

Beyond a mere marketplace, Akuru Type is a meticulously curated compilation of Dhivehi fonts sourced from talented designers, writers, esteemed type foundries, and creative brands. Each font embodies cultural nuances and innate beauty, enriching the written Dhivehi with its unique charm.

In a bid to empower font creators, Akuru Type introduces the Contributor platform, providing an avenue to showcase and market Dhivehi fonts to a broad audience. Currently hosting fonts from three contributors, Akuru Type extends an open invitation for others to join and share their creations with the world.

Encrea Studio seized the opportunity of the grand opening to unveil its own Type foundry named Fili Type Foundry. Their fonts, crafted for a myriad of clients, are now available for purchase or free download on the Akuru Type marketplace, further enriching its diverse collection.

Join Akuru Type in honoring the essence of the Dhivehi language through the captivating artistry of typography at the Dhivehi Font Marketplace – “Akuru Type.”
