Hoarafushi Office Exceed Nine a Side Football Tournament organized collaboratively by Hoarafushi Council and Exceed Maldives has begun.
The tournament began at Hoarafushi Club Football Stadium last night and the first match of the tournament was played between Hoarafushi Airport and Team Fenaka. Hoarafushi Airport won the match 1-0. Ali Riffath scored the only goal of the match for the airport team. Ahmed Rasheed from the Airport Team was selected as the best player of the match.
The second match of the tournament the match between Hoarafushi Airport and Hoarafushi Police Club will be played tonight at 20:30hrs.
The tournament is open to government offices and companies in Hoarafushi. Three teams participated in this year’s tournament. The teams are Hoarafushi Airport, Hoarafushi Fenaka and Hoarafushi Police.
The tournament has been planned in such a way that the two teams with the most points make it to the final after each team competes with each other. The final match of the tournament is scheduled to be played on the night of February 24.
A cash prize of MVR 15,000 will be given to the winning team and MVR 5,000 to the runners-up. This is the third time that Hoarafushi Council is hosting the tournament.
