Kulhudhuffushi City Mayor Mohamed Athif has expressed that he hopes Kulhudhuffushi City will become a digital hub in future.

Athif made the remarks while speaking at a ceremony held to connect the submarine cable to Ooredoo’s landing site in Kulhudhuffushi on February 17, as part of Ooredoo Maldives’ efforts to connect international peace cable to the Maldives.

While the international peace cable was connected to the landing site of Ooredoo in Kulhudhuffushi on February 17, this is the first time an international submarine cable has been connected to any island other than Hulhumale’.

Speaking at the ceremony held to connect the cable, Athif thanked Ooredoo Maldives for choosing the city to host the landing station of the new international submarine cable. Hopefully, Kulhudhuffushi City will become a digital hub and our community and our people will benefit more, Athif added..

In addition, speaking at the ceremony Chief Commercial Officer of Ooredoo Maldives Hussain Niyaz stated that that Kulhudhuffushi City’s name would be included in the world’s submarine cable maps and with this initiative, Kulhudhuffushi and the entire country will be benefited and the services provided by Ooredoo will be improved.
