Chief Commercial Officer of Ooredoo Maldives Hussain Niyaz stated that with the connection of Peace Cable, an international submarine cable, Ooredoo’s services will continue to improve in Kulhudhuffushi and the entire country.
As part of Ooredoo Maldives efforts to connect International Peace Cable to Maldives, Peace cable was connected to Ooredoo’s landing site in Kulhudhuffushi City on February 17.
Speaking at the ceremony to connect the cable to the landing site Niyaz stated that this is for the first time that an international submarine cable has been connected to any island other than Hulhumale’.
Moreover, Niyaz stated that Kulhudhuffushi City’s name would be included in the world’s submarine cable maps and with this initiative, Kulhudhuffushi and the entire country will be benefited and the services provided by Ooredoo will be improved.
The international submarine cable will also connect the country to Singapore, Europe and Africa. Ooredoo plans to invest in this submarine cable to improve the latency of internet services and increase capacity. With this cable, Ooredoo will be able to enhance 5G capabilities, open up opportunities for innovative services and create a real digital Maldives.
