Sh. Narudhoo Council has submitted a request to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to assess the damage caused by the barge ran aground to the island’s reef last Sunday.

A barge  carrying materials for the construction of Sh. Milandhoo Harbour Development Project in the atoll ran aground reef of Narudhoo East side on Sunday evening. The barge was ungrounded that night.

Narudhoo Council stated that the council has formally requested the EPA to assess the damage caused since it is believed that as such a large barge ran aground the reef of the island,  it will be severely damaged.

The council stated they had not yet received a response from the EPA.
