The sewing course held at Ha. Baarah has been concluded successfully and certificates has been handed over to the participants.

A total of 27 participants completed the course, which was held from December 3, 2023, to January 3, 2024. Out of the 27 participants nine were school children.

Speaking regarding the course, Abidha Abdul Rahman, president of the Women’s Development Committee (WDC) of Baarah, stated that most of the participants who took part in the course are new to sewing and all the participants went to the closing ceremony wearing the dresses the sewed by themselves. This shows the extent to which the students have learned to from the course.

The course was conducted by I-fas Dreams in the island. During the course, participants were taught how to cut and sew shorts, shirts, children dress, adult dress, etc.

Abidha further stated that the WDC is working on another level of sewing course in the island this year, and a program aimed at school children to learn how to make crafts from pine leaves and coconut leaves is also planned for the current year.
