Real Star has secured a place in the final of ‘30 Championship 2023′ Football Tournament organized by Hanimaadhoo Zuvaanunge Jamiyya (HZJ) to mark its 30th anniversary.
In the semi-final second match Real Star played against Shield. Real Star won the match 4-3 after penalties as match ended in a 1-1 draw in regular time. Moosa Kauyas Kail from Real Star was selected as the best player of the match.
The final match of the tournament is scheduled to be played on January 5.
A total of 9 teams participated in this year’s tournament. That is 7 teams from Hanimaadhoo and 2 teams from Hanimaadhoo constituency. Seven teams participated from Hanimaadhoo are Rooh, Youth Friends, Falcon, Shield, Real Stars, Uniform and Ahulee. And Hirimaradhoo Club Dominators and Finey Desire Crew Sports Club participated from the constituency.
The tournament is planned to be held after dividing the nine participating teams into two groups, with the first and second teams from each group qualifying for the semi-finals. The two semi-finals are scheduled to be played on January 2, 2024 and January 3, 2024. The final will be played on January 5, 2024 evening.
The objectives of organizing the tournament include increasing the love for football among the youth of the island, providing them the opportunity to play football in a competitive environment and promoting football in Hanimaadhoo.
The first island-level football tournament by Hanimaadhoo Zuvaanunge Jamiyya was held in the island back in December 1999, and it was called Saas Cup. And for the last 10 tournaments held by the organization from 2002 to 2021 were held as Adam Saleem Cup. However, as this year marks the 30th anniversary of the organization, the name of the tournament has been changed to make the tournament special for it.
