The Waste Management Center built at Sh. Komandoo has been officially opened and put to use.
The Waste Management Center was formally inaugurated by Komandoo Council President Mohamed Sinan on Sunday.
Moreover, along with the opening of Waste Management Center in the island, Komandoo Council has started waste collection service from households by recruiting staffs for the work. Sinan stated that the island did not have any waste disposal system in the past and with the operation of waste management center, the problem of waste disposal in the island will be resolved.
The Waste Management Center built at Sh. Komandoo has state-of-the-art waste disposal facilities in place. The bottles and cans pressing machine, plastic cutting machines, glass breaking machines and wood-filling machines have been installed there.
Sinan added that the council is now working on finding a way to sell the pressed cans and bottles.
