Kulhudhuffushi City has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Maldivian Red Crescent to  establish a Plant Nursery.

Kulhudhuffushi City Council stated that the Nursery will be established on the island as part of its ‘Fini Fehi City’ project.

According to the City Council, the main objective of the MoU is to revive the variety of trees that are in danger of extinction, and to work towards planting the trees needed to be planted in the streets and public areas of Kulhudhuffushi City. Moreover, efforts to increase the city’s charm and make the city green are also part of the objectives.

Furthermore, Kulhudhuffushi City Council has planted a large number of trees in the island on several occasions in the past as part of its ‘Fini Fehi City’ project. Also a large amounts of garbage, including plastic, iron and glass, was removed from various areas of the island.

In addition, apart from this, work like installing solar PV in three mosques has also been taken up as part of the project to convert electricity used in mosques in the city to renewable energy.
