Fishing Race to be held at HDh. Nellaidhoo to mark this year’s Fishermen’s Day

HDh. Nellaidhoo Council has open the opportunity to participate in the Fishing Race to be held to mark this year’s Fishermen’s Day.

Fishermen’s Day is officially celebrated in the Maldives on December 10 every year.

The Fishing Race to be held at Nellaidhoo is organized by Nellaidhoo Council in collaboration with the Atoll Council, Nellaidhoo Women’s Development Committee (WDC), and all the institutes in the island, clubs, and civil society organizations.

Those who wish to participate in the competition are requested to note down their names before 13:00hrs of December 7 through the online link or by visiting to the council. Moreover, each team should consist of at least four members and maximum ten members.

The fishing race is scheduled to be held on December 10. The teams are scheduled to leave from Nellaidhoo at 1600 hrs and should return to the island by 2100 hrs.

In addition, winning team will be awarded with a cash prize of MVR 5,000, runner-up team with MVR 2,500, and second runner-up team with MVR 1,000. Further, fisherman who catches the heaviest fish and best fisherman will be selected.
