Team ‘Five’ are the champions of ‘Kan’balunge Netball Challenge 2023’ organized by Kulhudhuffushi City Women’s Development Committee (WDC) in the Kulhudhuffushi City.
‘Kan’balunge Netball Challenge 2023’ kicked off with 7 teams on November 19, 2023. The final match of the tournament was played at Kulhudhuffushi City Stadium on November 25. The final match was played between Five and KYRC. Five won the match by 30 points to 25 points. Sama Abdul Sattar of Five was selected as the best player of the final match.
Top seven players of the tournament are: Suvaidha Mohamed – KYRC, Shahidha Moosa – KYRC, Ikrama Abdul Salam – Five, Nareema Abdul Rahman – Afeefuddin, Yumna Ali – Five, Sadhuna Mohammed – KYRC, and Minna Hasan – Five.
Moreover, Ameena Mohamed of Team CAD was selected the Veterans Player of the Tournament while Aishath Ayaa Ali of Five was selected as the Most Promising Player. Unique Friends was selected as the Fair Play team and Rashidha Moosa of Five was selected as the best player of the tournament.
The winning team was awarded a cash prize of MVR 25,000 and the runners- was awarded a cash prize of MVR 20,000.
The objectives of the tournament were to promote Netball in Kulhudhuffushi and provide that opportunity to the players who want to play Netball, to create unity among the Netball players, to encourage women to be active and healthy, and to produce talented players in Netball by providing them the opportunity to play Netball in a competitive environment.
