Dhanmaru United are the champions of ‘HRFCC Cup 2023’ Football Tournament organized by Ha. Hoarafushi Council.
The final match of the tournament was played at the Horafushi Football Ground on Saturday night and the match between Baavees Sports Club and Dhanmaru United ended in 0-0 draw in regular time. Dhanmaru United won the match 3-1 after penalties. Unais Zubair from Dhanmaru United was selected as the best player of the final match.
The winning team were awarded with MVR 30,000 and the runners-up were awarded with MVR 10,000.
Ibrahim Nadeem Adam of Dhanmaru United was selected as the best goalkeeper of the tournament while Abdulla Yameen of FC Frigator was selected as the top scorer of the tournament. Dhanmaru United coach Mohamed Nashir was selected as the best coach of the tournament, while Unais Zubair of Dhanmaru United was selected the player of the tournament.
A total of six teams competed in this year’s tournament. The teams are Dhanmaru United, Dhanmaru Pro, Baavees Sports Club, Hoara 22, FC Frigator and Frigator Young.
The objectives of the tournament was to revive the spirit of sportsmanship, friendship and harmony in the island, to create talented youth in Football and strengthen the bond among the youth. Also, promoting a healthy lifestyle with exercise and to stay fit.
