Ha. Filladhoo Council has announced the rules for presenting the ‘DhonUmar Award’ to those who have rendered distinguished service to island.

This award is given in recognition of those who have rendered distinguished services to the island for a long period of time, those who have rendered valuable services to the island in various fields, those who have rendered valuable services to the island, those who have served the island at the world level, national, atoll level and island level.

Filladhoo Council has decided to give = awards in a total of five categories. Under the Award of Honours, a total of 11 categories of awards will be given. These areas include Religious Awareness and Religious Teaching, Dhivehi Language-Literature History and Culture, Education, Health and Traditional Medicine, Fisheries, Agriculture, Tourism, Environment, Manufacturing/Production, Sports and Business and Economy.

Under High Achievers category, 5 awards will be presented. These include secondary, higher secondary, degree and above, PhD, Hafiz’s and Sports.

Under Award of Recognition, awards will be presented in 12 categories. These areas include Religious Awareness and Religious Teaching, Dhivehi Language-Literature History and Culture, Education, Health and Traditional Medicine, Fisheries, Agriculture, Tourism, Environment, Manufacturing/Production, Sports, Business and Economy, and Labour.

The Special Service Award will be given to individuals who has contributed adequately for the development of people and island or provided outstanding service or services or provided financial assistance to development of people and/or services.

The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to those who have rendered the most outstanding services to the island for a long period of time and who have scored above 75 percent on the basis of those who are currently alive.
