More than MVR 200,000 has been raised from activities carried out in HDh. Nolhivaram, to raise funds to assist the Palestinian people who have been affected by the atrocities committed by Israeli forces in Palestine.
Nolhivaram Council in collaboration with the island’s institutions, Women’s Development Committee (WDC), Civil Society Organizations (CSO), and the people of Nolhivaram organized a series of activities from mid-October to raise funds to help the affected Palestinian Muslims. The activities held in the island to raise funds to help the affected Palestinian Muslims received a total of MVR 247,626.50.
According to media coordinator of the Nolhivaram Council Mohamed Musthafa, Fund Boxes were kept in the island for a three weeks period from mid-October to collect the donations. Moreover, residents of the island held food selling event on November 3, to raise the funds, and residents held a work day in the island on November 4, to raise the funds.
Musthafa further stated that this is the most successful fundraising event ever conducted in Nolhivaram and thanked on behalf of the council to all those who have assisted in these events.
The proceeds from these activities have now been handed over to the International Aid Campaign (IAC). IAC has been providing assistance to the displaced people in Palestine.
