Ha. Vashafaru has won the ‘Thila Uthuru Futsal Tournament 2023’, organized by Haa Atoll Council in collaboration with Maarandhoo Council.
Vashafaru won the final match of the tournament against Utheemu 1-0. Abdulla Sinan of Vashafaru was selected as the best player of the match.
Top five players of the tournament are: Mohamed Mazeen – Utheemu, Saajid Rasheed – Vashafaru, Abdulla Ihwan – Filladhoo, Abdulla Sinan – Vashafaru, and Mahaaseen Mohamed – Vashafaru.

Moreover, Abdulla Ihwan of Filladhoo Team won the golden boot of the tournament, Mohamed Azleen the coach of Vashafaru was selected as the best coach, and Abdulla Sinan of Vashafaru was selected as the player of the tournament (King of the Tournament). And Utheemu was selected as the fair play team of the tournament.
A total 11 teams have participated in this year’s tournament. They are: Thakandhoo, Utheemu, Filladhoo, Baarah, Maarandhoo, Thuraakunu, Kelaa, Vashafaru, Ihavandhoo, Muraidhoo, and Dhidhdhoo.
The objectives of organizing the tournament are to promote friendship and harmony among the islands of the atoll, promote social bonds and promote the spirit of sportsmanship.
The champion team of the tournament was awarded with a cash prize of MVR 30,000 while the runners-was awarded with a cash prize of MVR 15,000 and fair play team was awarded with MVR 10,000.
The first edition of ‘Thila Uthuru Futsal Tournament’ was held at Ha. Utheemu last year and Ha. Filladhoo were the champions of the tournament. This year is the second year the tournament is being held.
