Utheemu, Muraidhoo, Vashafaru, and Filladhoo has reached to the semifinal of ‘Thila Uthuru Futsal Tournament 2023’, organized by Haa Atoll Council in collaboration with Maarandhoo Council.
Utheemu reached the semi-finals of the tournament as the top team in the group winning all three matches. Vashafaru reached the semi-finals of the tournament as the top team in their group with 7 points. Muraidhoo reached the semi-finals of the tournament as the top team in their group with 6 points. And last year’s tournament champion made it to the semi-finals with the best result among the teams that finished second in all groups. They reached the semi-finals with 6 points.
The semi-final matches will be played on Wednesday, November 8. In the first semi-final match, Utheemu will play against Muraidhoo and in the second semi-final match Vashafaru will play against Filladhoo. The final match of the tournament will be played at 16:00hrs on Friday, November 10.
A total 11 teams have participated in the tournament. They are: Thakandhoo, Utheemu, Filladhoo, Baarah, Maarandhoo, Thuraakunu, Kelaa, Vashafaru, Ihavandhoo, Muraidhoo, and Dhidhdhoo.
The objectives of organizing the tournament are to promote friendship and harmony among the islands of the atoll, promote social bonds and promote the spirit of sportsmanship.
The winning team will receive a cash prize of MVR 30,000 while the runners-up will get a cash prize of MVR 15,000 and fair play team will receive MVR 10,000. And several other positions will be selected and awarded.
The first edition of ‘Thila Uthuru Futsal Tournament’ was held at Ha. Utheemu last year and Ha. Filladhoo were the champions of the tournament. This year is the second year the tournament is being held.
