Budget has been allocated for Road Development of Ha. Baarah, Ha. Uligamu, Ha. Thuraakunu and Ha. Hoarafushi (phase 2 road development).

Under the budget for the fiscal year 2024, MVR 8.6 billion has been proposed for the Public Sector Investment Projects (PSIP). And Road Development of four islands from Haa Alifu Atoll has been proposed in the new budget.

In this regard, MVR 996,016 has been earmarked for the Thuraakunu road development project. A total of MVR 8,23,707 has also been earmarked as a new initiative to set up a lighting system and build a staircase on the island’s Football Ground.

Moreover, MVR 3,984,064 has been earmarked for the Uligamu road development project, while MVR 7,281,132 has been allocated for the construction of a new building of the island’s Health Centre.

Furthermore, MVR 796,813 has been earmarked for the Hoarafushi road development project (phase 2 road development), while MVR3,748,458 has been earmarked for the ongoing first phase. For Land Reclamation MVR4,600,000 has been earmarked and construction of housing units in the island is also included as a new project.

In addition, MVR 4,688,236 has been earmarked for the the Baarah road development project. And MVR650,000 has been earmarked for the construction of a mosque in the island.

The Finance Ministry has submitted a budget of MVR 49.5 billion to the Parliament for the fiscal year 2024.
