Deadline has been extended to participate and criteria of age limit that can participate in ‘Haa Alifu Atoll Emme Aligadha Thari 1445 Quran Competition’ organized by Middle Sports Club and Haa Alifu Atoll Council.
Earlier, the deadline for participation in the competition was on October 25. However, now the deadline for participation has been extended till October 30.
In the last two years during the Ramadan competition was held under the title ‘Dhidhdhoo Emme Aligadha Thari’ by Middle Sports Club. In those two years, the competition was held for the residents of Dhidhdhoo only. However, this year the competition is open to the entire atoll. Hence, this year’s competition title is ‘Haa Alifu Atoll Emme Aligadha Thari 1445 Quran Competition’.
Those who wish to participate in the tournament are requested to submit the completed application form to Middle Sports Club Office or mail it to [email protected] before October 30. Application forms from Dhidhdhoo will be available from Clubs office and from other islands will be available from the island council office. Furthermore, those who are 11 years of age as of January 01, 2024, will be eligible to participate in the competition. Initially it was opened for those who are 13 years of age as of January 01, 2024, as a criteria to participate in the competition. Other criteria for participating in the competition include knowing how to recite the Quran fluently, those who have memorized the last 3 books of Quran (Book 28, 29, and 30), and being a citizen of Haa Alifu Atoll.
The top 20 contestants from auditions will be given the chance to participate in the competition, and three slots will be reserved for the citizens of the Dhidhdhoo. Participants from Dhidhdhoo will also be able to compete for the 17 slots dedicated for the entire atoll. 03 slots reserved for the citizens of the Dhidhdhoo will be selected after selecting 17 participants open for entire atoll and among them top 3 participants those who are not selected among 17 participants will be given the reserved slots. Three slots have been reserved for Dhidhdhoo as the island hosts and organize the competition.
According to Middle Sports Club, purposes of the competition are to inculcate love for reciting the Holy Quran in the hearts of the people of the atoll, to revive the art of reciting the Holy Quran in according to Tajweed, encouraging to memorize the Holy Quran, to encourage the developing Qari’s and Hafiz’s. In addition to develop participants who can compete at national and international competitions and to increase awareness about the Holy Quran.
