HDh. Kumundhoo Council has stated that the second edition of ‘Kumundhoo Council Futsal Challenge 2023’, organized by the council is set to begin today.
Kumundhoo Council has decided to hold the tournament in two divisions. They are the men’s and women’s divisions. A total of seven teams participated in the men’s division of the tournament. They are Atto FC, Beach City Sports Club, Xeeru Sports Club, Unity Football Club, Lantern Football Club, Football Club Juvenis and Lion.
Moreover, a total of three teams participated in the women’s category of the tournament. They are CS Women, Sandhiya and Beach City Women.
In the first match of the tournament Atto FC will play against Beach City Sports, which will be played at Kumundhoo Futsal Ground in the evening. In the second match of the tournament to be played in the night, Xeeru Sports Club will play against Unity Football Club.
Kumundhoo Council has stated that the purpose of holding a futsal competition is to establish unity and harmony among the athletes of the island, inculcate the spirit of sports, create the talented athletes in the island, and provide more opportunities to develop the skills of the emerging athletes.
Furthermore, a cash prize of MVR 14,000 will be given to the winner and MVR 7,000 to the runners-up of both divisions. Xeeru Sports Club was the winner of the first edition of Kumundhoo Council Futsal Challenge. Last year, the council gave a cash prize of MVR 10,000 to the winning team.
