The upgraded Harbour, Powerhouse and Shore Protection Project in HDh. Nellaidhoo has been inaugurated by the President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
The completed infrastructure developmental projects were inaugurated on Sunday during President Solihâs visit to islands of Shaviyani Atoll.
The work scope of Harbour upgrading project completed by Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) include development of 164 metres of breakwater, 224 metres of quay wall, 125 metres of groynes, and other improvements. The coastal protection project involved the installation of an 873-metre revetment and the development of a 1,500-cubic-meter swimming area. These enhancements will provide significant benefits to the local community.
Moreover, newly constructed Powerhouse has been developed with power generation capacity of 980 kilowatts, representing a significant advancement in providing reliable and efficient power. Its strategic location, away from residential areas, minimizes disturbances for the island’s residents. The facility is spacious and modern, capable of accommodating many personnel.
Current administration has made significant strides towards achieving equitable development across all inhabited islands in the Maldives. By improving the quality of life for citizens and empowering them to lead dignified lives, the administration is paving the way for a brighter future for all.
