Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has stated that they have commenced Ha. Uligamu Harbour Development and Shore Protection Project.

Under the project to develop Uligamu Harbour MTCC has to carry out 10,400 meter maintenance dredging, 46,181 cubic meter new harbour basin, 21,708 cubic meter channel dredging operations, construction of a 238 meter breakwater, a 180 meter revetment, a 300 meter groyne, 183 meter sand filled outer breakwater, 162 meter sand filled inner breakwater and a 238 meter quay wall. In addition, installation of mooring buoys, construction of a ramp, a bridge, a jetty, installation of harbour lights, a 2220 square meter harbour pavement, and a 390 meter kerbs. An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) also will be conducted as it is part of the project scope.

The MVR 73.88 million project was awarded to the company to be completed within 600 days.

MTCC has been undertaking many development projects throughout the country including building roads, airports, land reclamation, shore protection, and harbours.
