Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure has awarded Ha. Maarandhoo Harbour Development Project to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

At a ceremony held at the Planning Ministry, the agreement was signed by Director General of the Ministry Fathimath Shaana Farooq on behalf of Ministry and CEO of MTCC Adam Azim signed the agreement on behalf of the company.

Under the project to develop Ha. Maarandhoo Harbour, MTCC has to carry out 9248 cubic meter maintenance dredging operations, 45,000 cubic meter new harbor basin dredging operations, 1657 cubic meter channel dredging operations, 60 meter revetment, 150 meter breakwater, 17 meter groyne, 215 meter quay wall, 194 meter existing quay wall repair, 11m × 11m ramp, 70m × 2m jetty, 2291 square meter pavement, and installation of navigational and harbour lights. An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) also will be conducted as it is part of the project scope.

The MVR 43.98 million project was awarded to the company to be completed on 480 days.

MTCC has been undertaking many development projects throughout the country including building roads, airports, land reclamation, shore protection, and harbours.
