Ministry of Health has awarded the construction of Tertiary Hospitals in HDh. Kulhudhuffushi City and GDh. Thinadhoo to the contractor. 

The both projects were awarded to China National Electric Engineering Company Limited at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Health. Senior Executive Abdul Hannan Hussain signed the agreement on behalf of the Ministry and Vice President Jinhui signed on behalf of the company. 

USD 76 million projects were awarded to the company to be completed within 30 months. Under the project 100 bed tertiary hospitals will be constructed in both islands.

According to the Ministry of Health, both hospitals are to be developed in new areas and since China National Electric Engineering Company Limited is already working in the Maldives, the work could be completed at a fast pace.

As part of the government’s efforts to improve health care facilities in atolls and expand services, the development of tertiary hospitals in five regions of  the country is an important policy of the current government.
