The construction of a new mosques in Ha. Muraidhoo and GA. Gemanafushi has been awarded to the contractor.

These two projects were awarded to Evosun Maldives Private Limited. And the agreement was signed at a ceremony held at the Islamic Center by Minister Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali on behalf of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Director of Evoson Maldives Hussain Waheed signed on behalf of the company.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister stated that people of the islands have high hopes for the mosques that are built in the islands. Therefore, it is a humble request to complete the project and hand it over to the Ministry as per the agreement. And minister also assured that the ministry will continue to extend all necessary support in such efforts.

According to the Ministry, the mosque to be built in Muraidhoo will cost more than MVR 8 million, while the Gemanafushi mosque will cost more than MVR 10 million. Both the mosques have a capacity of 300 people.

The two projects, funded by the government’s PSIP budget, have been given 365 days to complete. And these two mosques can be used by both genders to offer their prayers.
