Team Fehurihi has won Ooredoo Masrace 2023 – Addu City held on August 18, 2023.
A total of 83 teams and 7 teams from Addu City participated in this year’s Ooredoo Masrace, making it the biggest fishing competition in the Maldives.
According to Ooredoo Maldives in relation to the company’s 18th anniversary, this year’s Masrace will be bigger and more exciting. The event will take place in four different cities across the Maldives, including Male’ City, Kulhudhuffushi City, Fuvahmulah City, and Addu City, throughout the month of August 2023.
The championship title of Ooredoo Masrace 2023 – Addu City was claimed by the remarkable Team Fehurihi, with a result of 220.9 points, taking home MVR25,000 as Cash Prize. The competition was intense, with Team Hondeli securing the runner-up position with a commendable total of 141.6 points. Following closely, Team Baracuda secured the second runner-up position with a total of 131.9 points, further highlighting the fierce competition among the teams.
Moreover, the Best Fisherman title went to Ibrahim Abdulla from Team Happy Market, who showcased exceptional skills by landing a total of 7 catches. Azlifa Azeez from Team Fehurihi was recognized as the Best Fisherwoman, having reeled in a total of 4 impressive catches. Furthermore, Naja from Team Fehurihi made a significant contribution by landing a remarkable Kurumas, weighing an impressive 5.5 kilograms winning the Heaviest Catch of the night.
The competition is set to commence in rest of the city on the following dates:
- Fuvahmulah City: 25th August
With 34 teams competing from Male’ City, 23 teams from Kulhudhuffushi City, 13 teams from Addu City, and 13 teams from Fuvahmulah City, the competition will be fierce as each team competes for the championship title in their respective cities.
Participating teams will be competing against other teams within the City for the grand prize of MVR25,000 cash prize. Prizes worth a total of MVR 160,000 will be awarded throughout the competition, where winners from each city will receive cash prizes as below:
- 1st Place Team: MVR 25,000
- 2nd Place Team: MVR 10,000
- 3rd Place Team: MVR 5,000
- Best Fisherman: MVR 1000
- Best Fisherwoman: MVR 1000
