Flight operations has begun during the night to Ha. Hoarafushi Airport.
The first flight to Hoarafushi Airport was operated last night to commence the operations during the night. A delegation, including senior government officials, arrived on the flight last night. Hoarafushi MP Ahmed Saleem, Regional Airport Managing Director Mohamed Rizvi and Hoarafushi Council President Mohamed Waheed were part of the delegation, which was attended by a large number of Hoarafushi airport workers to welcome the delegation.
Moreover, even though preparation were underway to commence the nigh landing to Hoarafushi Airport, the work got stalled due to impact of high tide to the airport area. However, the Hoarafushi Airport Shore Protection project was completed recently MTCC.
Furthermore, Hoarafushi Council stated that currently three flights are operated to the airport daily, and with the night landings, it will make it convenient and easy for the residents and those who want to visit the island.
The airport was first inaugurated by President Solih and Transport Minister Aishath Nahula on November 19, 2019.
