The construction of the new building of Sh. Funadhoo Hospital has been handed over to the contractor.

The project was awarded to Citramas Heavy Industries in JV with Plazinc Private Limited, an Indian company. The MVR 135,877,224.39 project was awarded to the company to be completed in 540 days. 

This project is part of the government’s efforts to improve the health system in the atolls. Moreover, as part of these projects, the government is constructing hospitals on islands that did not have hospitals earlier and constructing extension buildings to increase the space for hospitals. In this regard construction of 7 hospitals in atolls under Kuwait Fund has been awarded to contractors in May 2023.

Furthermore, as many as 21 PSIP projects in the health sector have been completed in the last four years under the government’s ambitious project. In addition, as part of the government’s efforts to develop healthcare infrastructure, MVR 551 million has been allocated in this year’s budget for the construction of new health centres and hospital extension buildings.
