HDh. Hanimadhoo Council has awarded constructing a driving track in the island as part of preparations to issue licenses for four-wheelers.

Hanimaadhoo Council awarded the project to Minute Plus Private Limited. The council has decided to build the track on vacant land between Hanimaadhoo Council and Hanimaadhoo Fenaka Building.

According to the Vice President of Hanimaadhoo Council Firaq Mohamed, it was a concern of the residents that the license issuing services are not available in the island when they were elected to the council, therefore they have been working to solve the issue from day one since they took over their jobs.

Moreover, it is estimated that construction of the driving track will be completed in a month’s time and then the service will start without much delay, so that the licenses of vehicles such as motorcycles, cars and pickups can be obtained by the residents of Hanimaadhoo while staying in the island.

Furthermore,

Firaq noted that all the materials required for the work have been donated under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) and the cost of the items would be around MVR 8 lakh. Firaq expressed his gratitude to MTCC for their continuous support and assistance to the ongoing projects undertaken by Hanimaadhoo Council.

In addition, Council is working to develop Hanimaadhoo as an island that offers many services to the residents of the island as well as for the nearby islands.
