President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has inaugurated Gulhifalhu land reclamation project.

Speaking at the function, President noted that even though it is located in the Malé region, the Gulhifalhu land reclamation project has huge positive consequences for the entire country, according to the President who spoke at the event. He claimed that the initiative will change the Malé area and that its improvement of the housing condition would be its most significant effect.

Moreover, the150-hectare land reclamation project would aid in the growth of the Gulhifalhu port in addition to providing land for the Binveriya housing scheme. According to President, the administration intends to reserve 2,000 home plots for the Giraavarufalhu housing project and distribute 2,000 house plots to Gulhifalhu. Also he announced that land allotments for the beneficiaries of the ‘Binveriya’ housing scheme would commence in August.

Furthermore, he added that the administration’s goal of a “prosperous, safe Maldives” for the people is the driving force behind every agreement signed, ground broken, and initiative begun.

The administration commissioned Boskalis Westminster Contracting Ltd. to undertake the Gulhifalhu land reclamation project, creating 150 hectares of land for the Binveriya housing scheme and the Gulhifalhu Port project.
