Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure has awarded Sh. Noomara and B. Eydhafushi Harbour Development Project to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) under design and build basis.
At a ceremony held at the Planning Ministry, the agreement was signed by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Zeeniya Hameed and CEO of MTCC Adam Azim signed the agreement on behalf of the company.
Under the project to develop Noomara Harbour MTCC has to carryout 5076 maintenance dredging operations, 2920 meter channel dredging, to dredge 34,386 cubic meter new harbour basin, construction of a 302.60 meter breakwater, a 64 meter revetment, and a 117 meter quay wall. In addition, renovation of 32 meter area of currently used quay wall, construction of two Jetties, installation of mooring buoys, installation of harbour lights, installation of street lights, paving of 1652 square meter harbour pavement, construction of a ramp and installation of Kerbs in 311 meter area. An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) also will be conducted as it is part of the project scope.
The MVR 53.33 million project was awarded to the company to be completed within 455 days.
Under the project to develop Eydhafushi Harbour MTCC has to carryout 28,304 maintenance dredging operations, 3354 meter channel dredging, construction of a 170 meter breakwater, a 383 meter revetment, and a 402 meter quay wall. In addition, construction of a 18 meter long 2 meter wide bridge, installation of harbour lights, installation of street lights, paving of 1814 square meter harbour pavement, construction of a ramp and installation of Kerbs in 402 meter area. An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) also will be conducted as it is part of the project scope.
The MVR 64.67 million project was awarded to the company to be completed within 450 days.
MTCC has been undertaking many development projects throughout the country including building roads, airports, land reclamation, shore protection, and harbours.
