Vice President Faisal Naseem has inaugurated the ‘Inmates Creativity Fair 2023,’ organized by the Maldives Correctional Service (MCS).

The fair was inaugurated at a ceremony held at K. Maafushi School on Thursday.The Vice President emphasized the administration’s commitment to improving prison conditions and placing a priority on inmates’ welfare in his remarks at the ceremony.

Moreover, he highlighted the administration’s focus on implementing educational, skill development, and employment programmes to rehabilitate and reintegrate inmates into society effectively. He also urged everyone involved to work together to promote a law-abiding, healthy community.

The Inmates Creativity Fair’s main goal is to make it easier for prisoners to reintegrate into society by demonstrating the variety of skills they have learned. The event takes place on June 1-2, 2023.

The fair showcases the artistic skills, products, and crafts of the 40 participating inmates and includes 2,400 plants and produce in addition to 800 handcrafted objects and paintings. The Vice President visited the fair after the inauguration, viewed the exhibits, and spoke with the inmates.
