Ha. Dhidhdhoo Middle Sports Club in association with DHI Foundation has launched a campaign to donate a Tote bag/Fabric bag to every household in the island.

A special ceremony was held at Haa Alifu Atoll Education Center to mark the beginning of the program to provide a Tote bag/Fabric bag to every household in Dhidhdhoo. A total of 994 students of the school were presented with Tote bag/Fabric bag on the occasion. A total of 1,100 bags, including the school staff, were distributed. On the occasion, tote bag/fabric bag were also handed over to some of the institutes in the island.

According to Middle Sports Club, as part of the program Tote bag/Fabric bag will be distributed to all households in the island by today. The distribution of bags is being done by the members of the Middle Sports Club. There are more than 900 residential houses in Dhidhdhoo.

Speaking about the program, President of Middle Sports Club Nashwan Ibrahim stated that the club and DHI Foundation are now preparing to provide Tote bag/Fabric bag to the students of all schools in Haa Alifu Atoll.

Moreover, he stated that a total of 5,000 Tote bag/Fabric bag will be distributed under the program. However, only two thousand bags were brought in to start the program. And remaining 3,000 bags needed for the program have already been ordered according to Nashwan.

The objectives of the program are to encourage people to use eco-friendly tools and reduce the use of plastic bags.
