Maldives Post has won the Gold Award given by Universal Postal Union (UPU) to companies providing the world’s best Express Mail Service (EMS).

The EMS performance award was presented to Maldives Post at the EMS Cooperative General Assembly held in Bern, Switzerland. Managing Director of Maldives Post Adam Mohamed received the award on behalf of the company. EMS performance award is ranked on the basis of service levels in 174 countries providing EMS services.

In 2022, Maldives Post won the ‘Gold Award’ based on the quality of service provided by EMS service providers, while in 2019 and 2021, the company won the ‘Bronze Award’. Apart from Maldives, the gold awardees include Azerbaijan, Myanmar, Oman and the United Arab Emirates. Qatar won the Silver Award and no country was selected for the bronze.

In this Cooperative General Assembly, strategic decisions to be made by member states to improve the quality of EMS services were presented. It will also hold the World Customs Organization-Universal Postal Union Global Conference in Japan in June and a regional EMS symposium in Indonesia in September to discuss ways to improve the quality of post-mediated services around the world.

Moreover, Managing Director of Maldives Post Adam Mohamed stated that Maldives Post is making necessary changes in providing postal services by participating in such global meetings. He further stated the Maldives Post aims to provide quality services to the customers and this year too, the company is committed to winning EMS performance and customer care awards.

EMS provided by Maldives Post is the most reliable and quickest service to send foreign remittances. The service is cost-effective and the most posted destinations are Singapore, UAE, Malaysia, Australia and Sri Lanka.
