The night landing test flight has been operated to Kulhudhuffushi Airport after installing night landing system at the airport.
The test flight was operated to Kulhudhuffushi Airport run by Regional Airports Company Limited (RACL) on the night of May 12, 2023. With the night landing, services provided by Kulhudhuffushi Airport will be changed to 24 hours.
According to RACL, this is a significant step forward in bringing the services provided at Kulhudhuffushi Airport to a new level and this will solve the problems faced by the residents of Kulhudhuffushi and nearby islands and will facilitate night air travel.
Moreover, RACL also stated that the biggest relief for the residents of the area would be the end of the barrier transporting patients by air at night in case of emergencies. Businesses and resorts in the region will also benefit from this, the company stated.
In addition to Kulhudhuffushi Airport, work is also underway to establish a night landing system at Hoarafushi Airport and Maavarlu Airport run by RACL. These works will be completed in a month’s time and the night landing will start at the two airports, according to RACL.
With the night landing system at Kulhudhuffushi Airport, the number of airports operated by RACL with night landing systems have reached to four. Other three airports are Hanimaadhoo International Airport, Faresmaathoda Airport and Fuvahmulah Airport.
