Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure has awarded N. Maalhendhoo Jetty Extension and Shore Protection Project to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

At a ceremony held at the Planning Ministry, the agreement was signed by Director General of the Ministry Fathimath Shaana Faarooq and CEO of MTCC Adam Azim signed the agreement on behalf of the company. And constituency MP graced the ceremony.

Under the project MTCC has to dredge 9,735 cubic meter harbour basin, construction of a 386 meter revetment, a 73 meter groyne, a 175 meter geo bag revetment and a 47 meter quay wall. In addition, construction of a 60 meter long 4 meter wide bridge, installation of mooring buoys, installation of harbour lights, installation of street lights, paving of 928 square meter harbour pavement, construction of a jetty. An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) also will be conducted as it is part of the project scope.

The MVR 32.34 million project was awarded to the company to be completed within 270 days.

MTCC has been undertaking many development projects throughout the country including building roads, airports, land reclamation, shore protection, and harbours.
