Ministry of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure has awarded HDh. Kumundhoo Harbour Development Project to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) under design and build basis.
At a ceremony held at the Planning Ministry, the agreement was signed by Director General of the Ministry Fathimath Shaana Faarooq and CEO of MTCC Adam Azim signed the agreement on behalf of the company. And constituency MP graced the ceremony.
Under the project to develop Naivaadhoo Harbour MTCC has to dredge 45,760 cubic meter new harbour basin, construction of a 300 meter breakwater, a 40 meter revetment, a 60 meter groyne, and a 332 meter quay wall. In addition, renovation of 154 meter area of currently used quay wall, construction of a 120 meter long 2 meter wide concrete Jetty, installation of mooring buoys, installation of harbour lights, installation of street lights, paving of 5,252.30 square meter harbour pavement, construction of a ramp and installation of Kerbs in 537.62 meter area. An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) also will be conducted as it is part of the project scope.
The MVR 66.08 million project was awarded to the company to be completed within 570 days.
MTCC has been undertaking many development projects throughout the country including building roads, airports, land reclamation, shore protection, and harbours.
