The Urbanco has stated they have open application for its apprenticeship program.
The company stated they have opened 100 vacancies across 12 sectors in this year’s program. Since 2016, the programme has been aimed at building youth in various fields and is one of the most special program under the corporation’s general social responsibility to empower the youth.
The objective of the program is to bring about social, economic equality as part of efforts to create talented youth in the society and build a full-fledged society. This year’s apprenticeship program is being conducted in the fields of Gardening, Refrigeration and Air conditioning mechanics, Inventory Management, Computer Hardware and Networking, Housekeeping, and Laundry operations. Moreover, program will offer Front office services, Heavy vehicle operations, Construction site Supervision, Health and Safety in construction, Painting and Decorations, and Welding techniques.
The main criteria to be considered while selecting participants for the program, which is reserved for local youth in the age group of 18-30 years, are that they have completed class 10 or have a level 2 qualification of MQA and are not employed.
The program will include classroom sessions, active work participation, and learning sessions, and each participant who completes the program will receive a Level 3 qualification recognized by the Maldives Qualification Authority.
According to the company, it will be a six-month program and each participant will be given a monthly allowance of MVR 6,000. At the end of the program, the best participants will be provided employment opportunities depending on the vacancy in the corporation.
The deadline for application to join the apprenticeship program is 1400hrs of May 14.
