Ha. Ihavandhoo Council has donated a Quran Mushaf to every household in the island this year as part of a book distribution program with religious information conducted every year in relation with the Holy month of Ramadan.
The staffs of the Council and Council members distributed the Quran Mushaf’s to 450 houses in the island. Speaking regarding the program, Ihavandhoo Council President Ahmed Sobah stated that the program to donate books containing religious information to Ihavandhoo households is an annual initiative of the council in relation with the Holy month of Ramadan.
Moreover, Sobah stated that even though initially a Quran Mushaf is donated to every household under the program, books containing religious information will also be distributed during the month of Ramadan. Soba further stated that this program has been receiving a lot of positive response from the public and thanked the Islamic Ministry on behalf of the Council for its assistance and support in getting the Quran Mushaf’s.
Ihavandhoo is one of the most populated islands in North Thiladhunmathi. There are around 450 households in the island with a total population of 3,618. Nearly 4,000 people, including those who have moved to the island from some nearby island and have migrated to the island by other means, are living in the island.
